look to the bright side

This past weekend was one of the best we've had since the holiday season. It was a weekend spent with good friends, enjoying good food and having quality family time.

Friday was a PA day and so one of my daughters invited one friend over during the day and another friend for a sleepover. What I love about these two friends in particular, neither one minds playing with all three of my children though she came for a play date with my daughter. They laughed and giggled all day and evening playing with the guinea pigs and their American Girls. When I went to bed Friday night I found my camera laying on the bed. On the camera I watched a guinea pig training video the four of them made while sitting on the bathroom floor playing with the guinea pigs. Imagine trying to train a guinea pig the way you would train your dog and you get the picture! It was hilarious to watch them in their seriousness creating the video.

Saturday for the first time in at least two years, my husband and I went out on a double date with good friends for Thai dinner and a movie! My husband and I have had lunch dates and even dinner dates, but not an evening out with friends. I thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely dinner and conversation before the movie. We had not expected "Up In the Air" to be as busy, but the theatre was packed. There were only single seats left until two couples moved over to create two sets of two seats for us.

Have you seen Up In The Air? It was different than what I expected but I think I'd enjoy almost any movie George Clooney was in. I have been a fan of his since his stint on Sisters and then ER. His character, though emotionally detached, was still endearing.

Valentine's day began with a special breakfast! I made chocolate brownie waffles and they were delectable!! The waffles were so decadent the kids only ate two each. I have a freezer bag full of waffles for another day. Our Valentine's day was full of chocolate: Purdy's chocolate, chocolate waffles, chocolate hearts, chocolate chip cookies and a rich chocolate torte. I never thought it possible, but by the end of the day I had my fill of chocolate.

Family day was spent visiting my parents, delivering my now famous fudge, skating at the local rink and gearing up for back to school on Tuesday.

I loved the whole weekend!
